From assassin to fugitive
Soul belongs to the Order, a secretive organization with considerable power. When its patriarch is murdered, he is framed for the killing. The pursuit that follows leaves him gravely wounded. His first problem is survival; behind it lies the question of who turned the Order against him.
Sixty-six days left to live
A mysterious healer keeps Soul alive, but the treatment gives him only sixty-six days. The cure is temporary, so clearing his name and finding the person behind the murder become urgent parts of the same journey.
The world beyond the pursuit
The Phantom World mixes martial arts with strange machinery and occult powers. S-GAME calls its visual direction kungfupunk. The machinery and monstrous figures belong to the same setting as its swordsmen and martial sects.
The journey passes through handcrafted, semi-open maps. Villages, roads and encounters give the pursuit a wider setting: Soul’s personal crisis unfolds inside a troubled martial world.
Mó Yuan and Soul’s past
In its August 2026 introduction, S-GAME identifies Mó Yuan as Soul’s father. Donnie Yen provides the character’s facial and motion capture and also serves as the game’s creative consultant.
How the smaller stories connect
S-GAME says that helping certain people in the Wulin can open new story paths. Side quests therefore provide another way into the world’s conflicts and the circumstances of the people living through them.
The project also draws on Rainblood: Town of Death, the game Soulframe Liang created in 2010. He describes Phantom Blade Zero as its spiritual rebirth.
